Yes, the weather in the UK is pretty awesome right now, but when the Sun does inevitably go back into hiding, it’s great to know that this doesn’t have to put the kibosh on your summer holiday plans. Chris Dyke explains why in our latest guest post…
The glorious weather we have been experiencing lately really does make camping a great choice for a summer holiday. However with the precarious summer weather that no doubt will not last, and the soon approaching colder months that will be here before we know it, it is great to know that glamping does not just have to be ‘a summer thing’.
‘Glamping’ is a luxurious camping experience, which allows holiday makers to enjoy the countryside and feel at one with nature without having to leave home comforts – well, at home! With most sites, including us here at Mill Farm, offering facilities including proper beds, cookers, proper bathrooms, free WiFi etc, you really can have a great camping holiday in the countryside.

This is all well and good, but what about in winter I hear you say? No problem! Glamping is a holiday which is perfect any time of the year. Many of the tents which the glamping sites use are created for use in both summer and winter months. Materials which are exceptional at holding in heat, are perfect for keeping warm in the winter! The style of some glamping tents allows for muddy boots and wellies to be left outside, but still under shelter, which ensures that the inside of the tents are left clean and mud free!

Further efforts to ensure that the British cold weather could not possibly ruin your glamping holiday is the installation of electric blankets on beds. This really does make sure that no one is cold and you can enjoy the glamping experience fully. These not only offer easy cooking whilst on holiday, but as they are situated in the middle of the tents, they heat them up just like an AGA would heat up a farmhouse in the winter!
What is there to do in the winter? So much! What is more perfect on a cold winter’s day than going to a traditional country pub, snuggling in front of the fire and enjoying a home cooked dinner? This can be part of your glamping holiday as many locations have good local pubs nearby. Also, how about toasting marshmallows over the fire and making s’mores? The Americans definitely got that chocolate gooey marshmallow treat right! Thirdly, winter walks are a very popular activity with many enjoying the beautiful sites that the British countryside has at this time of year.

So if you fancy an autumn or winter camping break without struggling with freezing tent pegs, leaking tents and muddy tent floors– why not give glamping a go – a camping experience you really can enjoy all year round!

It was indeed! And (touch wood) we are still having nice weather! Hope it will continue for another few weeks at least! 🙂
Looks like quite the getaway in the UK. I had heard that the weather was nicer this year.
